Hummingbird Surveying the Crops
This humming bird is surveying her crops. No nectar before its time for her. We have planted our gardens to attract humming birds. It seems that the birds know each flower and when to harvest the nectars, seeds and insects. This scene attempts to capture the birds knowledge of its food sources and control over its 'farm'. Ellen and I delight in the multitude and varieties of birds which spend 3/4 quarters of their year in our back yard. We grow a lot of flowering plants specifically to attract humming birds. For many years we have seen families of these birds whose children learn how to feed at our plants and feeder.
